Set up the SidePanel as an Outlook app

This guide walks you through installing the SidePanel as an Outlook app (add-in), so your team can work with Tekst directly from Microsoft Outlook. If you prefer to work in the browser, you can also use the SidePanel as a browser extension - see Set up the SidePanel as a browser extension.

Prerequisites

• An active Tekst account.
• Microsoft Outlook. The panel loads without extra configuration in Outlook on the web, Outlook for Mac, and the new Outlook for Windows. It also runs in classic Outlook for Windows, which is where nearly every setup problem occurs, particularly on shared mailboxes. See The SidePanel does not load in the Outlook app if you hit one.

Installation steps

1. Open Microsoft Outlook and navigate to the Add-ins section.
2. Search for "Tekst" in the add-in store.
3. Click "Add" to install the app.
4. Open an email, open the Tekst panel from the ribbon, and sign in with your Tekst credentials when prompted.

Once installed, the SidePanel appears when viewing emails that are processed by Tekst. From there you can review Approval Forms and view case information - see Use the Approval Form in the SidePanel and View case information in the SidePanel.
