This guide walks you through installing the Sidepanel as a browser extension. The extension opens the Sidepanel next to Outlook on the web in your browser, so you can work with Tekst without installing anything inside Outlook itself. If you work in the Outlook desktop application instead, see Set up the Sidepanel as an Outlook app.
For an overview of what the Sidepanel shows once installed, see the "What is the Sidepanel" article.
Prerequisites
- An active Tekst account.
- A recent version of Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge (Chromium-based).
- You read your mail in Outlook on the web.
Installation steps
- Open the Chrome Web Store and search for "Tekst" (the Web Store also works in Microsoft Edge).
- Click "Add to Chrome" (or "Add extension" in Edge) and confirm.
- Pin the Tekst icon to your browser toolbar so it is always within reach: click the puzzle-piece icon next to the address bar and select the pin next to Tekst.
- Open Outlook on the web, select an email, and click the Tekst icon to open the Sidepanel.
Logging in
The first time you open the panel, you are asked to log in:
- Log in signs you in with your Tekst username and password.
- Log in via SSO signs you in through your organization's identity provider. Enter your organization's Tekst subdomain (the part before
.tekst.comin<yourcompany>.tekst.com) and pick your organization's sign-in method.
After logging in, the Sidepanel shows the Tekst results for the conversation you have open. You can log out at any time from the panel's footer.
